Histórical Trail - Óbidos
The origins of Óbidos are millennial, passing through the Lusitanian, Roman and Visigoth peoples. However, the Arabs built the Castle, their ex libris. Over the centuries, it was used as the royal residence and dowry of several queens. Of course, alongside royalty is the clergy, the reason why the village is richly embellished with churches and centennial chapels. The Roman ruins and the Óbidos aqueduct built in the 18th century are other ex libris of the region, and the latter has revolutionised the water supply system of the village.
This itinerary presents the religious and historical heritage of the village, passing inside and outside the walls.
