Mogo Creek Valley – Alcobaça
Tapered and sinuous, Mogo Creek Valley is a place where dense and relatively untouched vegetation reigns. The arbutus, the holm oak and the oak are the predominant trees of this place, where the bed of the river and the inherent humidity gives it the mystical aura of a green forest. The fauna is also diverse and you can also see foxes, genets and several species of birds. On the other hand, the walls of Mogo Valley reveal calcareous formations of karstic morphology, having been made, in the late nineteenth century, several archaeological campaigns in some of its caves. When climbing the valley, the landscape that stands out is the magnificent slope of Candeeiros Mountain, just next door.
This is a mostly flat trail, but rather uneven and slippery if wet. It is cool in the summer, but the green predominates all year round with the trunks and stones covered with moss.
