Óbidos Lagoon Circuit
Óbidos Lagoon forms the largest coastal lagoon system of the Portuguese coast with a total area of approximately 6.9km2 and an average depth of two meters. It is a unique place of beauty and forms a fragile ecosystem where several species find a privileged habitat. Numerous water and migratory birds can be observed here, but the importance of this pond lies mainly with bivalve molluscs because, in addition to food for the occupying species, it was and still is a source of income for the local inhabitants.
The circuit I of Óbidos Lagoon is made along the southern side of the Lagoon and during the trail, it is always possible to enjoy the fauna and flora typical of this special place. It also passes by the typical village of Lapinha with its fishermen's houses transformed into small refuges of nature.
